FInal Call, Boarding All Participants to Chile! by Kenny Varner

In two weeks the 2013 LSU Teaching in Chile group will journey to Concepcion Chile for the 3-week LSU College of Human Sciences and Education Chile  Program.  We have a variety of ways to get to Chile.  Some of us will go through Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, Houston, Dallas, Colorado, Miami, Las Vegas, Panama City, Panama, and Lima Peru with all roads leading to Santiago de Chile the Capital.  From Santiago we will all take a LAN (Chilean Airline) flight to Concepcion.

We all arrive in some form or fashion to the Santiago Airport.  The Santiago Airport is consistently rated among the top airports in South America.

The Concepcion Carriel Sur Airport is also a modern airport.  Quite small with only 4 gates, the airport is very easy to navigate.  The airport has a beautiful landing pattern that brings you in over the Pacific Ocean. From Santiago to Concepcion is about 45 minutes of flying time.

Ken and Margaret will connect with all travelers at some point in Santiago, and Kenny will have arrived a few days earlier to set up the advance operations for the trip. We will be greeted by our new Chilean families and one or more of the program directors in the airport. The beautiful city of Concepcion awaits.  Located on the Pacific Coast to the far west of Chile, and approximately half way down the country, a Chilean winter awaits.  Chilean winters in this region are known for being quite mild, similar to Portland Oregon or Seattle Washington.

Follow this blog to see up-to-date posts from the trip, hearing about and seeing from participants as they connect culturally with our gracious and wonderful Chilean hosts.
