A busy day- Posted by Ken Denny

Hard to say whether today actually started yesterday when leaving Louisiana or this morning somewhere over Peru!  It certainly has been a busy day with lot's of airports and suitcases.  Margaret and I managed to catch an earlier flight out of Santiago with the help of the wonderful people at LAN airline cutting out about 5 hours of travel time.  Seriously, US air carriers could learn a lot about customer service from these folks!  Met Kenny at the airport and got to see Hannah for a moment before she took off with her new Thomas Jefferson School family! The rest of the day was spent running back and forth to the airport to greet everyone and send them on their way. Last group arrived a little after 19:00.

Almost everyone is here and safely transferred to their families to enjoy a long weekend (couple of folks had some travel delays but Dr. Varner handled it as always!   Some families met their LSU students in Santiago and got an early start for the weekend. We told everyone before the trip how amazing the families in Concepcion were and they have certainly lived up to their reputation.  Made some new friends with the new families but I think the best was seeing the students from our first families and how much they have grown!  I can't wait for school to start and see all of the incredible students, teachers and staff at Thomas Jefferson!

To all of our students, take a deep breath and a nap (and a shower)  and get ready for the adventure. You have passed the first challenge of getting where you need to be. Sure it was a bit scary but you handled it. You'll never look at new airports (and huge layovers) with as much apprehension again. Give yourself a short pat on the back and let's get on with it!

To our families in Chile, THANK YOU.
